The octopus correctly picked a win for the Saints on an extremely hot afternoon in Munich (32 degrees!). The Saints were in a heavy sweat even before the game started during the warm-up session. The first half was fairly even on the scoreboard with Steve Roberts blocking the Saints forward attacks. Kai ended up in hospital after just 4 minutes of play reducing the Saints bench to one. 4 goal lead to the Saints at half time. Coach Craig wanted the lead to be extended 4 goals by 3/4 time and that's exactly what the team delivered. The Saints dominated the third term in the centre with good direct kicking to leading players. Nothing changed in the last quarter, as the Saints extended their lead in the hottest game day in Munich ever. Final scores were: | Schwabing Saints 16.10(106) | Pasing Hawks 7.10(52) |
Guenther the "Wombat" was carried off the ground on a few team mates shoulders in his last game for the club before heading off to Australia. He was presented with a footy signed by present players of the club. Best for the Blues were Michi, Steve Roberts, Hazza. Best for the Saints were Belly, Al, Brett, Julien. The traditional after game BBQ lasted well into the night. The win sets up a block-buster game between the Saints and the Blues to determine the first ever Bayern League champions for 2010. Training Tuesday and Thursday this week.
